For five years Dropped Once has built a sound that touches on the grooves of the Caribbean such as Roots Reggae, Ska, Afro-Cuban, and Dub. These old world beats are balanced by a healthy dose of tight rock drumming infused with shades of hip-hop. Funky rhythmic bass lines are topped with guitars and keyboards that focus on traditional reggae downbeat.
This world beat creates a pulse that forces all types of crowds into movement. Fused by trombone and percussion solos evocative of Latin Jazz, and guitar leads that taste of acid, rock, and blues. Delivered with soulful vocals that catch, this Chicago six piece creates a sound of laid back reggae rhythms to high intensity grooved jams. Dropped Once plays high energy shows that feed their crowd into a drunken sweaty dance!
Dropped Once currently can be seen regularly on the campus' of NIU. at"Otto's", U of I. including "Cowboy Monkey" and "Canopy Club", "Hangar 9" at SIU., "Wise Fools Pub" in Chicago, along with others throughout the Chicago suburbs.
